How to Use the OTC Metals Profit Calculator
Enter the BID Price per Ounce ($):
Input the current market BID price of the metal per ounce in US dollars.
Enter the Liquidity Rate (%):
This is the percentage at which your refinery or buyer pays you for the metal's spot value. For example, if they pay you 95% of the spot value, enter 95.
Enter the Payout Rate (%):
This is the percentage at which you pay your customers for their metal. For example, if you pay them 80% of the spot value, enter 80.
Select Preferred Unit of Measurement:
Choose between Grams (g), Troy Ounces (ozt), or Pennyweight (dwt) from the dropdown in the Settings section.
Add Metal Items:
- Click the "Add Item" button to include a metal item in the calculation.
- For each item, enter the Weight and Purity (%) (from 0.01 to 99.99).
- Use the legend below for standard purity values.
- The Weight and Purity input fields are displayed side by side for convenience.
- You can add multiple items by repeating this step.
- To remove an item, click the "Remove" button next to it.
Calculate the Values:
- Click the "Calculate" button to compute the results based on your inputs.
- The calculator will display the following:
Full Spot Value: The total market value of the metal items based on the BID price and their purities.
Liquidity Value: The amount you will receive from your refinery or buyer, calculated using the Liquidity Rate.
Payout: The total amount you will pay to your customers, calculated using the Payout Rate.
Margin: Your profit from the transaction, calculated as the difference between the Liquidity Value and the Payout.
Margin as % of Payout: The margin expressed as a percentage of the Payout.
Pure Metal Content: The total weight of pure metal across all items in your selected unit.
Estimated Purity (%): The overall purity percentage based on the total weight and pure metal content.
Show OTC Sheet:
- Click the "Show OTC Sheet" button to generate a table displaying the payout per unit for various standard metal purities based on the BID price and your Payout Rate.
- This can help you communicate standard rates to your customers.
Clear the Calculator:
- Click the "Clear" button to reset all fields and start a new calculation.
- Your default Liquidity Rate, Payout Rate, and Unit of Measurement preferences will be retained.
Save Preferences:
- Under the "Settings" section, you can set your default Liquidity Rate, Payout Rate, and Unit of Measurement.
- Enter your preferred rates and select your preferred unit, then click the "Save Preferences" button.
- Your preferences will be saved for future use.
